REGISTRATION DOESN’T EQUAL VOTERS

Voter turnout for California’s presidential primary was about average. The turnout was despite a major surge in registrations leading up to Tuesday’s election. Statewide counts show only about one in three eligible voters actually cast ballots after more than 600 thousand newly registered voters were expected to challenge the 2008 primary record.
