A mid-morning grass fire burned 20 acres in the hills above Stallion Springs just off Longhorn Lane. Kern County firefighters stopped the progress of the fast moving fire in the noon hour today [thu] using two air tankers and three helicopters. Three homes were threatened and the fire was caused by a rider mower cutting tall grasses to reduce fire danger.
