WOMAN STUCK ON ROCK IN RIVER

Kern County firefighters rescued a woman stranded overnight on a rock in the middle of the Kern River. The 33-year-old woman was rafting after dark Sunday night and the raft overturned. Three others made it to safety but the woman was stranded and had to be hoisted off the rock around 6:00 AM before being treated for hypothermia. The other rafters spent the night on the shore and started a fire to keep warm but it got out of control and started a wildfire that burned about an eighth of an acre.
