LISTERIA ON WHEELS ALERT

Kern County Aging and Adult Services says they got a batch of recalled peas. The notification from a food supplier was about a shipment of frozen peas that were recalled for possible listeria contamination. The agency said Thursday the peas were served at senior nutrition centers and the Meals on Wheels program. Listeria can cause illness days or even weeks after exposure so anyone who eats meals from these programs and ate the peas, call a doctor right away if you begin to feel sick. No local illnesses have yet been reported.
