WOULD YOU LIKE FRIES WITH THAT?

A new low has been achieved in bad health department inspections. Kern County Public Health says Johnny’s Burger and Deli on Oak Street just south of California Avenue set an all-time low score when inspectors showed up Thursday. The visit begins with 100 points and inspectors deduct as they encounter problems. 75 points are needed to pass but Johnny’s score a 4. They said there was, among other things, evidence of rodents, mold on food in the refrigerator, temps not cold enough and, well, on and on. Meanwhile, Arby’s on Rosedale Highway scored a 70 causing a shutdown Thursday as well. Both restaurants will have to remedy violations and, something new, employees will have to pass “Food School” for safety procedures in order to reopen.
