SHERPA FIRE FANNED BY WINDS

The Sherpa Fire in the Los Padres National Forest nears 6 thousand acres.Crews were able to reach 20 percent containment Friday but that could all change over the weekend as hot, dry conditions get worse and high winds are expected. By Monday, fire officials expect a Red Flag warning for the Santa Barbara County mountains. Each night, “sundowner” winds have fanned the flames and Highway 101 has faced closure at those times. One building has been destroyed and 270 homes are threatened with some residents ignoring evacuation orders.
