HOUCHIN GETS BAKO TO OPEN UP FOR LAKE ISABELLA

Houchin Community Blood Bank in Bakersfield is doing its part to help the fire victims in the Kern River Valley, where a drive had been planned this week in Lake Isabella to collect 60 units of blood.

They set up a mobile donation center behind the County Administrative Offices on Tuesday to help more than 40 people give, and Houchin spokeswoman Joy Invina-Hernandez says they collected diapers, shoes, and hygiene items for evacuees.

All donated items will go to First Baptist Church in Lake Isabella.
