WAIT BEFORE ERSKINE CLEAN UP

The Erskine Fire is now a public health emergency according to Kern County Supervisors.The declaration provides access to state resources and County Public Health Director Matt Constantine is advising residents impacted by the fire not to be in a hurry to clean up. Ash and debris from the fire may contain toxic and hazardous chemicals and materials and cleaning up should be left to the professionals. State hazardous materials specialists will be at a community meeting at 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 6 at Woodrow Wallace School in Lake Isabella to give details on how the state will clean up properties for free. The Director said it’s very important not only to not handle those materials but they be disposed of properly.
