BAKERSFIELD FIREMEN FIGHTING FIREWORKS

Twenty-two enforcement teams from the Bakersfield Fire Department will be out over the July 4th weekend to catch people using illegal fireworks.

Under new city guidelines firefighters can hand out citations to anyone they suspect has set one off, and Chief Doug Greener says it is a problem because those sparklers have caused $One-Million in damage to homes in the past two years and killed a person a few years ago.

Bakersfield bans fireworks that whistle, spin or fly even if they are legal in California.
