The Red Cross has opened an evacuation center for those displaced by the Deer Fire on Bear Mountain. The shelter opened Friday at Jacobson Middle School on Anita Drive at Dennison Road in Tehachapi. Recommended evacuations were being issued around areas of Bear Valley Springs that are considered very high fire danger because of extensive bark beetle tree mortality. The Red Cross advises those told they should evacuate to heed the recommendations and come to the center.
