The Deer Fire has now burned 1,680 acres in the mountains near Bear Valley Springs and has led to recommended evacuations. Firefighters say 80 to 100 homes are at risk from the fire that began around 3:00 Friday afternoon and they’re worried the wind could kick in and make the situation worse.
Jacobson Middle School in Tehachapi is set up as an evacuation shelter.
