The Deer Fire has been 87 percent contained.Hundreds of firefighters are being released from the assignment and communications for the incident has been handed from Cal Fire to Kern County. Tuesday night’s update had 836 personnel working the fire east of Arvin and the area burned remained at 1,785 acres. The fire began Friday afternoon along Highway 223.
