A small fire that broke out near homes in Caliente got a quick response from firefighters that were assigned to the nearby Deer and Erskine fires. Kern County Fire spokesman Eric Coughran tells KGET-TV it made all the difference in snuffing out the flames.

Two separate fires broke out around 6:30 Tuesday night but no details on the incident have been released.
