STATE OF THE DROUGHT

Water situation better in California, but not here. The State Department of Water Resources has released their mid-year report on water conditions in California and it shows rain and snow in the winter and early spring helped ease drought conditions to the point where some restrictions were eased. However, Kern County missed out and remains in a severe drought condition for the fifth year in a row. The entire region, known as the Tulare Basin, has missed out on the waterworks and has some places where wells are doing dry. The state June report shows Bakersfield continues to be a shining star of water conservation with a 29% conservation in May, well above the state average.
