NO GUNS IN TAFT SCHOOLS YET

Taft’s police chief asked schools to allow concealed guns on campus.Chief Ed Whiting went before the boards of Taft College and Taft High School this week and said later the response from the members was positive. However, he’s unsure if or when either will vote to override a new state law banning guns on campus, a provision the law allows. Whiting said concealed weapons with permits were on campus before the January law went into effect. He believes it’s safer to have well-vetted and trained gun holders at large public gatherings like football games, recitals and graduations.
