A Bakersfield man has been sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison for being a felon in possession of a gun. 30-year-old Jorge Chavez was finally sentenced Monday four years after his arrest when police found a semi-automatic pistol on him. Chavez was convicted in Kern County on drug trafficking charges twice about ten years ago.
