The Kern County website now has a way for citizens to easily track how it spends money.
The Open Government tool puts the past six county budgets into simple and interactive graphs, and Lauren Skidmore with Kern Citizens for Sustainable Government says her group pushed for this change for years because it could make everyone more accountable. The county had a soft launch of the tool last December but plans on adding quality of life categories soon.
