The Kern County Sheriff’s Office will not be participating in the National Night Out.The move is due to budget cuts. This follows the department opting out of Fourth of July fireworks enforcement over staffing shortages. Bakersfield police will observe next Tuesday night’s nationwide crime prevention event with a public gathering at Bakersfield College.
