Bakersfield police are investigating a pursuit that led to a fatal shooting by one of their own.

Officers tried to pull over a car on McDonald Way and Stockdale Highway around 3:30 Thursday morning for vehicle code violations, but the situation quickly changed when the four suspects were stopped on Feliz Drive and Jastro Avenue. One of the passengers got out, ran down Feliz, and shot at police. That suspect is now dead.

The driver and two other passengers have either been arrested or detained.
