Kern County is looking towards an efficiency consultant to help them save money. The Board of Supervisors heard about Lean Six Sigma, a program to find ways to save money, but not everyone is happy about it. District Attorney Lisa Green and Sheriff Donny Youngblood showed up at Tuesday’s meeting to say the program may have good points but their departments cannot be made more efficient to where it would improve public safety. Youngblood went so far as to say he doesn’t trust County Administrative Officer John Nilon and suggested the board has ceded power to him. Supervisors all expressed support for the program and said county government must create a culture of “thinking lean.”
