Kern County is going ahead with plans to clean up properties burned by the Erskine Fire. The properties are being designated as nuisance and charge owners for the work. Supervisors approved the move Tuesday but were glad to hear the number of burned-out, nuisance properties had gone from 76 to just 20 as more property owners are taking advantage of a state program to clean up for free. County building inspectors say there’s still time for those out of compliance to sign up for the state clean up.
