NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center has posted a series of videos on YouTube to mark 70 years of operation, and the path towards developing cleaner and quieter jets. Leading the way is the X-57 that was built in Naples, Italy and delivered in July to Empirical Systems Aerospace in Oceano. Scientists want to develop an electronic-propulsion jet that’s capable of breaking the sound barrier without the sonic boom that’s known to shatter windows on the ground. Armstrong has also posted a longer video of its work that will begin airing today on the NASA TV network.
