NOT GUILTY FOR FIRST-DEGREE MURDER

A man accused of first degree murder has been found not guilty for the shooting of two people. The shooting was on Flower Street in east Bakersfield. 22-year-old Robert Garrett was acquitted Tuesday and Public Defender Kevin Moran says he’s very glad the jury saw the problem in the prosecution’s case as a mistaken identity. Joshua Lambert was killed and Montrice Maize was wounded in May 2014, but Moran says the key witness wasn’t very clear in describing what he saw either to police or on the witness stand.
