Five people have been displaced after a home on Benton Street in south Bakersfield caught fire. A police volunteer on patrol alerted the residents just after 11:00 AM Thursday and they all got out with one minor injury while trying to move a car. Fire crews were able to save most of the house, but the damage estimate is $40 thousand.
