City leaders and representatives from CalTrans and the Thomas Roads Improvement Program were all on hand to celebrate the widening of Rosedale Highway through Bakersfield. City Manager Alan Tandy said Thursday there are now six lanes and more room to turn between Gibson Street and Calloway Drive. Finishing touches like striping and turn signals are still needed for the $16 million project. More lanes will eventually be added all the way to Highway 43.
