MORE STATE ANTI-DUI FUNDING

The State Office of Traffic Safety continues to send money to Kern County to fight drunk driving. Deputy District Attorney Michael Yraceburn says they have received a grant of more than $440 thousand to prosecute felony impaired driver cases, about the same amount Bakersfield police was given to enforce DUI laws. The local program has prosecuted nine hundred cases in the past five years, a crime Yraceburn calls the most preventable of all.
