A suspected car thief is facing a list of felony charges after a wild ride in central Bakersfield.

Police Sergeant Damon Youngblood says an officer was recovering a stolen vehicle at Brundage Lane and Chester Avenue around noon Thursday when someone drove by saying they were following another stolen car, so he went after that one instead.

The driver of that car then took off but crashed at Beech Street north of 24th Street. The suspect has not been named by police.
