WHEN DOGS FLY

The City of Bakersfield Animal Care Center is sending sixty dogs to Idaho. The animals will fly aboard a special flight that’s a first for the shelter. The plane takes off Saturday morning and Center Director Julie Johnson says the Chihuahuas and pit bulls that are unwanted here are sure to find good homes in Boise. A program called Dog is My Copilot is providing the flight and is part of an ASPCA effort to find communities that want certain breeds of dogs and linking them with others that have too many of them. The Idaho shelters taking the dogs say they already have homes lined up for them.
