MOJAVE RESIDENTS HAVE GAS PAINS

Supervisors have given final approval for a liquefied natural gas plant in Mojave. The move comes after residents appealed the first approval. Numerous residents spoke at Tuesday’s Supervisors meeting via a video linkup from Mojave to complain about how the storage and distribution center won’t help the economy very much, can be dangerous, negatively affects the nature of their town and construction dust could increase exposure to Valley Fever. Speedy Fuel says they had to put the plant near homes in Mojave because that’s where gas transmission pipelines are located, the board agreed and gave it unanimous approval.
