MCFARLAND STANDOFF ENDS IN ARREST

A McFarland man is facing major charges after a 15-hour standoff with law enforcement. Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says police asked for their SWAT team after 32-year-old Samuel Gonzalez barricaded himself with a gun in an apartment on Kendrea Street Wednesday afternoon. Pruitt says they used tear gas to try and get Gonzalez out, but he started shooting at them.

Gonzalez was treated at Kern Medical for minor injuries when he was taken into custody Thursday morning. The incident began with a domestic dispute call.
