ARREST IN LAMONT KILLINGS

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Bakersfield man for the killing of a father and son at their Lamont gas station. 22-year-old Darnell Hammond was found just hours after the robbery and shooting at Quality Gas on Main Street Friday. Two other men are still being sought after driving off in a brown, mid-1990’s Nissan Sentra, the victims have not been officially identified. There had been a fatal accident Friday evening as deputies chased a car on Highway 58 where the suspect crashed and burned in his car. However, the Sheriff’s office says that unidentified victim was a suspect in a Lamont burglary, not in the double-homicide.
