ANOTHER LAMONT SUSPECT FOUND

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a double homicide at a Lamont gas station. 40-year-old Jim Langston was taken into custody at his home in south Bakersfield Wednesday on two counts of first-degree murder and the Sheriff’s office continues to look for a third suspect. 22-year-old Darnell Hammond was captured shortly after last Friday’s shooting, a car believed used in the crime has been recovered. Both suspects are being held without bail and Hammond had his arraignment delayed until next Thursday.

Meanwhile, the father and son who were killed at their Lamont gas station have been officially identified by the coroner as 60-year-old Heriberto Aceves and 27-year-old Juan Aceves. They were gunned down Friday morning by robbers as they returned fire to defend their business, Quality Gas, on Main Street.
