Former Bakersfield Police narcotics detective Patrick Mara is due in federal court today for sentencing on drug trafficking charges. His ex-partner, Damacio Diaz, was given five years in prison this month for similar charges, far less than prosecutors had hoped.

Police Chief Greg Williamson is expected to comment this afternoon on the case, after the men and other parties alleged corruption within the department.
