The Chief of Police of California City has been placed on administrative leave. City Manager Tom Weil confirmed Thursday Chief Eric Hurtado is on leave for a personnel matter that the manager expects to be soon resolved. He would not discuss the nature of the issue, Hurtado has been chief in California City for five years and with the department for twenty-five.
