An event has been held in downtown Bakersfield to show unity rather than division in the wake of last week’s election.Pastor Joseph Rountree organized the event wanting people of all races and political persuasions to come, and they did by the hundreds. A contingent from the Gay and Lesbian Center were there with their rainbow flags Tuesday night outside Rabobank Arena for the Unity Prayer Rally. Assemblywoman Shannon Grove and mayoral candidate Karen Goh were among the speakers offering messages of national healing and unity. The Pastor hopes other cities will catch on to the Unity Prayer Rally idea.
