PROBATION OFFICER GETS SIX MONTHS FOR ASSAULTS

Two women who say they were sexually assaulted for years by their former probations officer are upset that he has been sentenced to six months in jail. Reyes Soberon, Jr. pleaded no contest to sexual battery and groping last month, but victims Kim Adams and Nicole S. said outside court Wednesday that they feel betrayed by the system.

Soberon will also have to register as a sex offender and stay away from the women for 10 years.

Kern County faces a civil lawsuit over his actions.
