The Amtrak San Joaquin train is adding additional passenger cars for holiday travel.The rail line is expecting a surge of riders. Spokesman David Lipari says the Central Valley corridor is used more by leisure travelers than business people and that means a lot of people like it for heading home for the holidays. He advises people to book Amtrak tickets right away because the trains on Thanksgiving Day have a good chance of becoming sold out despite the added capacity. The train has seven round trips from Bakersfield every day, having added a trip earlier this year due to increased travelers.
