A new Mexican Consul has been appointed to the San Joaquin Valley. The Bakersfield Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held an event to introduce him. David Preciado came to the Metro Gallery downtown Tuesday night and offered his thoughts on what the election of Donald Trump may mean to Mexican citizens living in the Valley. He’s telling citizens to keep calm and wait until the inauguration on January 20th to see what happens. As for building a wall, Preciado says there’s already walls and fencing along much of the border and his government is focusing on being a good neighbor and economic and cultural partner with the U.S. The Consul advises immigrants not to hesitate to contact their Fresno office if they need help.
