HO HO HOLY SMOKE!

The Bakersfield Fire Department has held their annual Christmas tree burning. The event is to show how dangerous a dried out tree can be. Battalion Chief John Frando said after today’s demonstration at the training center that holiday safety begins when you buy your tree. He says make sure the tree is fresh and not dropping needles. Make sure it stays watered and is not placed near heat sources. He says trees should not be kept indoors more than about two weeks and should be disposed of immediately, not kept outside to dry out. The Red Cross was on hand saying they responded to more than 300 home fires in the San Joaquin Valley during the holiday season last year, video of the fire is on our KUZZ News Twitter.
