A test pilot assigned to Edwards Air Force Base in the Kern County desert has died in an accident in Texas. 32-year-old Major Lee Berra was flying a private aircraft Wednesday afternoon near San Antonio when it crashed for an unknown reason. Berra was on temporary assignment in Texas from Edwards, where he graduated from the test pilot school.
