Kern County Public Health has announced the first flu-related death of the year. No details are being released about the victim, but Health Officer Dr. Claudia Jonah says folks should not be too worried because vaccination rates are high here.

Local hospitals say they’ve been treating more patients with severe flu symptoms this year with three people in intensive care.
