LAKE ISABELLA DAM IS SAFE FROM SPILLWAY BREAKS

The Army Corps of Engineers says we don’t have to worry about an Oroville-like spillway break at the Lake Isabella Dam.

Spokesman Rick Brown says the projects are completely different because they sit at different places and have their own unique issues. Brown says Lake Isabella is operating at 88% of recommended capacity and that water is being sent steadily downstream in an environmentally responsible way.

Lake Isabella is one of the highest at-risk dams in the country because of earthquakes. It’s undergoing a $600-Million retrofitting project that should be complete by 2022.
