A big hole opened in the road deck of Highway 99 at the Rosedale overpass.The lanes across Rosedale Highway on Highway 99 in Bakersfield are open again after an emergency repair of a hole that opened up in the overpass. Caltrans says rain caused an old patch to break up Friday, and the hole does not mean the bridge is in any risk of falling apart. A new report this week says California leads the nation in dilapidated bridges and overpasses, but Caltrans says the Rosedale overpass is in good shape and the repair was routine.
