A Kern County Superior Court judge has issued an injunction preventing the state from halting oil wells that inject water into the ground. Judge Tom Clark says it’s arbitrary to shut down the wells just because state regulators could not process aquifer exemptions ahead of a deadline.

Bob Poole of the Western States Petroleum Association agrees and says there’s no reason to think any of the wells would not pass a water quality review.
