The former bookkeeper of the Kern County Soccer Park in northeast Bakersfield is being investigated.The suspicion is about embezzling more than $165 thousand. Police began investigating Denise Wheeler in October soon after she stopped showing up for work. She’s suspected of forging signatures on checks she cashed, Wheeler has not been arrested and the Soccer Park is not commenting.
