The Bakersfield City Council has voted to end the Senior Refuse Rebate Program.The discount has provided people over 65 with half price trash service for 30 years. Wednesday night’s vote came without comment after council members previously expressed disappointment the program had to end. The age-based discount was in violation of state law.
