Arvin city leaders say they will donate 32 acres to the Kern Community College District if trustees build a Bakersfield College satellite campus in town.
BC already holds classes at Arvin High, but backers of the $25 million project, which is being paid for through the Measure J school construction bond, say they are bursting at the seems.
Mayor Jose Gurrola is a BC grad and thinks it would give low income residents a hand up by giving them the education to get better jobs.
The land near Arvin High is currently being rented out to almond farmers. Trustees will vote on the project on Thursday.
