FAMILY DISPUTES MURDER CHARGE

A man accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl has entered a plea of not guilty and is held without bail. 23-year-old Gerardo Rodriguez was in court Thursday for the death of Stacy Duke on Monday in a home on Dore Drive in south Bakersfield. His family says she was just an acquaintance and had become sick minutes before she died in their home. She had vomited just as she died, the suspect’s sister says. Prosecutors may seek the death penalty saying she had been sexually assaulted prior to her death. The girl had been known on the streets at Anjelica Cortez and purportedly had an ID card showing her as 22-years-old.
