A man has been killed as he crossed a busy Bakersfield street in the dark while he was wearing dark clothing.

Police say the victim was struck outside the crosswalk on East California Avenue just east of Union Avenue around 10:10 Wednesday night and that drugs and alcohol are not suspected on the part of the driver.
