Bakersfield Assemblyman Rudy Salas has been stripped of his chairmanship of the Business and Professions Committee.The move comes in the wake of his vote against the gasoline tax. Salas says he was informed Monday by Speaker Anthony Rendon, but he has no regrets about being the only Democrat to opposed the transportation bill. The families in his district drive too far for jobs that pay too little for him to support raising the gas tax. He also promised not to vote to raise taxes unless it’s by a vote of the people. The Assemblyman says he’s been getting a lot of support from people in his district and from around the state.
